Feed-in tariff II

(Purchase and sale by the grid operator – ritiro dedicato)

"Ritiro dedicato" is a means of regulating the sale of energy in Italy rather than a "classical" feed-in tariff.

Producers of up to 2 million kWh of electricity from renewable energy sources may choose between the minimum tariffs set by the energy authority (prezzo minimo garantito) (Art. 7 AEEG 280/07) or the market prices dependent on the time of day and zone (prezzo zonale orario) (Art. 4 AEEG 34/05). If production exceeds this figure, the surplus is paid at the market price (Art. 7 AEEG 280/07).

Payments are progressively configured according to the following categories (Art. 7 Cl. 5 AEEG 280/07, Payment rates for 2011).

  • € 103.40 /MWh for annual production of up to 500.000 kWh
  • € 82.20 /MWh for annual production of between 500,000 and 1,000,000 kWh.
  • € 76.20 /MWh for annualy production of between 1,000,000 and 2.000.000 kWh.
  • Market price (prezzo zonale orario) for production of > 2,000,000 kWh (Art. 7 Cl. 2 AEEG 280/07).

Guarantee minimum prices are restricted to a term of one year (Art. 7 Cl. 2 AEEG 280/07).
