Internal consumption and degression

The consumption of produced solar power is regulated separately in the EEG.

There is a bonus if the solar electricity is not fed completely into the grid and is partially consumed in the household. For this there is a government bonus in addition to the rates of payment.

The power consumption bonus will be calculated by asset size. A distinction is made between a consumption share up to 30 percent and a consumption share of over 30 percent of the total electricity produced.

The rate of remuneration in the year of commissioning is set for the entire term. However, the payment rates for newly-built photovoltaic systems are designed sliding scale. Thus, incentives to reduce costs through technological advances are made.

The degression of solar arrays is fixed within a statutory assemble corridor ("Rule degression"). For new installations, the compensation rates are dependent on years of service after lowered to a fixed percentage (§ 20 EEG).

If the actual expansion rates lie above or below the actual expansion rates or below the build corridor - then the degression rises or falls by these statutory percentages ("breathing cover"). The amount of the degression is different between rooftop and ground mounted systems.
