Do photovoltaic systems cause electromagnetic pollution?
Like all electrical appliances, photovoltaic systems generate electromagnetic waves and fields. However, this only happens during the day, when the system is operated by the sun. The system does not generate any measurable electrical energy at night. The magnetic field intensity of the system at a distance of 50cm is lower than the natural magnetic field.
According to an expert opinion from Fraunhofer ISE Institute, at a distance of 10 cm or more, the emission from wires, PV generators and inverters is below the limit in the 26th BIMSchV (Ordinance for Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act).
Therefore a photovoltaic system can be regarded as harmless.
